The reason for this is that the bonus doesnt stack but the ardy diary bonus gives more than the gloves of silence one. Also the rogues outfit only doubles the profit! ... I believe I started at 65 with ardy medium diary, it's not really that bad xp/hr in my opinion, very manageable. Then again, I absolutely hate theiving so anything is better than training it the normal way.
